Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, located in Shanghai, is a key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is ranked among the national "Double First-Class", "211 Project", and "985 Project Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platforms" and was selected “111 Plan”, Outstanding Legal Talent Education and Training Plan, National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Plan, National Economics Basic Talent Training Base, National Overseas High-level Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base, National University Practical Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base, Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences A key research base, a publicly-sponsored graduate program for national high-level universities, a university receiving Chinese government scholarships for international students in China, a national university with typical experience in deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, one of the first batch of doctoral and master's degree awarding units in the country, and a collaboration with the China Free Trade Pilot Zone The leading unit of the Innovation Center, a founding member of the China-Europe Business School Alliance, is jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and Shanghai Municipality. The school originated from the business course offered by Nanjing Normal University in 1917. It is the first institution of higher learning independently founded by the Chinese to study business. In 1921, the Department of Commerce was expanded, reorganized and relocated to Shanghai, and National Southeast University was established as Shanghai University of Commerce. After that, it went through stages such as the National Central University Business School and other stages. In 1932, it was established independently and was named the National Shanghai Business School. In 1950, it was renamed Shanghai Institute of Finance and Economics. In 1960, it was renamed Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. In 1985, it was renamed Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. In 2000, the school was placed under the leadership of the Ministry of Education by the Ministry of Finance. According to the school's official website in April 2023, the school covers an area of 812.9 acres and has three campuses. The main campus is located at No. 777 Guoding Road; there are 20,470 students of all types, 8,066 full-time undergraduates, 6,509 master's students, and doctoral students. 1,335 people, 501 international students, and 1,001 full-time teachers
