Beijing Information Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1954. In 1954, in order to implement my country's first five-year plan and accelerate the development of China's electronic industry, the Second Ministry of Machinery Industry established the "North China Fourth Industrial School" in Beijing Jiuxianqiao Electronic Industrial Zone. In 1956, it was named "Beijing Radio Industry School". Since its establishment, the school has trained a large number of electronic technical talents for the construction of the motherland and made positive contributions to the development of China's electronic industry. It is known as the cradle of training electronic industry technical talents. In December 1993, Comrade Li Peng, then Premier of the State Council, wrote an inscription for the school's 40th anniversary celebration: "Aiming at electronics, cultivating talents". Over the past 40 years of reform and opening up, the school has developed rapidly. In September 1999, in order to adapt to the needs of Beijing's social and economic development and accelerate the training of information industry technology application talents, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Beijing Radio Industry School and Beijing Adult Electronic Information University merged to form Beijing Information Vocational and Technical College. In 2003, two national key technical secondary schools, Beijing Computer Industry School and Beijing Electronic Industry School, were merged into Beijing Information Vocational and Technical College, and higher vocational education continued to grow and develop. In 2021, Beijing Electronic Industry Cadre School (Beijing Electronic Industry Party School) was merged into Beijing Information Vocational and Technical College, bringing new historical opportunities for the school to create new glory at a new starting point. The college is affiliated to Beijing Electronics Holding Co., Ltd. and is an industry-run general college. There are five campuses, including the main campus, Dongba Campus, Huaxiang Campus, Xishiku Campus, and Electronic City Campus, with a total area of ​​350 acres, a building area of ​​240,000 square meters, 750 faculty and staff, 400 full-time teachers, and more than 5,000 students. The school currently has 32 on-campus institutions, including 16 party and government management departments, 7 education and scientific research management, and 9 secondary college teaching departments, namely the School of Artificial Intelligence, the School of Industrial Internet, the School of Electronic Information, the School of Digital Business, the School of Digital Art, the School of Education and Health, the School of Marxism, the School of Basic Education, and the General Ability Teaching Department. It focuses on the layout of professional clusters such as artificial intelligence, industrial Internet, electronic information, commercial Internet, digital art, and smart health, and offers more than 30 majors such as artificial intelligence, software technology, big data, Internet of Things, cloud computing, information security, communication technology, electronic technology, integrated circuits, mechatronics technology, new energy vehicle technology, intelligent finance, e-commerce, marketing, digital media art design, film and television animation, virtual reality, business English, and health management.
