Beijing Sports University

Beijing Sport University, located in Haidian District of Beijing, Beitiu University is directly under the State General Administration of Sports. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it is the first batch of national key colleges and universities, national "double first-class" construction colleges and universities, national "211 project" key construction colleges and universities, and is selected into the "Innovation and Introduction of Knowledge in Colleges and Universities" Program. "National Construction of High-level University Public Postgraduate Program", "National New Engineering Research and Practice Program", "Chinese Government Scholarship for Foreign Students". The school was set up in 1952 and held the opening ceremony in 1953 its original name was Central Institute of Physical Education. It was renamed Beijing Institute of Physical Education in 1956 and Beijing University of Physical Education in 1993.As of July 2009, the school has won more than 50 championships in the World Series and 60 championships in the Asian Series, breaking the Asian record of more than 10. It won more than 600 championships in the national official competition. Especially in Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 and Athens Olympic Games in 2004, the students and athletes trained by the university have achieved the excellent results of 1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze and 4 gold and 1 silver respectively. Athletes and students studying at school also scored seven gold medals. In the Chinese sports delegation to the Athens Olympic Games, there are 163 students, teachers and alumni, accounting for 25.75% of the total number of Chinese sports delegation.Meng Guanliang and Yang Wenjun of China won the gold medal in the men's 500m double rowing final at the Athens Olympic Games. This is China's first gold medal in water sports at the Olympic Games.
