Yunnan University (YNU), located in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, is a national key university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and Yunnan Province. It is also a national "Double first-class" university, Project 211, One University in one Province, basic capacity building project for universities in Central and Western China. Yunnan University was founded in 1922 as a private Donglu University. In 1930, it was renamed Provincial Donglu University. 1934 It was renamed Yunnan Provincial University. 1938 It was renamed National Yunnan University. In 1946, the Encyclopedia Britannica listed Yunnan University as one of the 15 most influential universities in the world. 1950 It was named Yunnan University. In 1958, Yunnan University was transferred to Yunnan Province by the Central Ministry of Higher Education. In 1978, Yunnan University was designated as one of the 88 national key universities by The State Council. In 1996, it was listed in the first batch of national "211 Project" key construction universities. In 1999, Yunnan College of Political Science and Law merged into Yunnan University. As of June 2023, the University has two campuses, Chenggong and Donglu, covering an area of 4,367 mu, with a floor area of 1.33 million square meters and a collection of more than 4 million books. It has 28 colleges and 84 undergraduate programs. There are 14 post-doctoral research mobile stations, 22 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 1 professional doctoral degree authorization, 42 first-level discipline master degree authorization, 26 professional master degree authorization; There are more than 3,000 faculty members, nearly 17,000 full-time undergraduates, nearly 12,000 full-time master's students, and more than 1,500 doctoral students.
