Dalian Maritime University

Dalian Maritime University, referred to as Haida and Dalian Haida for short, is located in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. It is a national key university affiliated to the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China. It is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Education, the State Oceanic Administration, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the People's Government of Liaoning Province, and the People's Government of Dalian City. The school is a well-known higher navigation institution in China, known as the "cradle of navigators", and is one of the few "internationally prestigious" maritime schools in the world recognized by the International Maritime Organization. It is a member of the International Maritime University Federation , was selected into the "111 Plan", the Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program, the Excellent Legal Talent Education and Training Program, the National Construction High-Level University Public Postgraduate Program, the Chinese Government Scholarship for International Students in China, the National University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program, and the National International Science and Technology Cooperation base, national research and practice education base for primary and middle school students. Dalian Maritime University originated from the Shipping Department of Shanghai Higher Industrial School of the Ministry of Posts and Communications established in 1909. It was formed by the merger of the only three maritime colleges and universities in China during the 40 years from the late Qing Dynasty to the founding of New China. In 1953, Dalian Maritime College was established by merging Northeast Maritime College, Shanghai Maritime College, and Fujian Maritime College. In 1994, Dalian Maritime University was renamed Dalian Maritime University. As of March 2023, the school covers an area of 1.36 million square meters, with a building area of 950,000 square meters; it has 9 first-level discipline doctorate authorization points, 21 first-level discipline master degree authorization points, 7 postdoctoral mobile stations, There are 14 professional master degree authorization categories; there are 21 teaching and research institutions and 54 undergraduate majors; there are 1,662 full-time teachers, and there are more than 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the school.
