Zhengzhou University, referred to as "Zhengzhou University", is located in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, China. It is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Henan Provincial People's Government, a national "double first-class" construction university, and a "211 Project" construction university. The medical education of Zhengzhou University originated from Sun Yat-sen University in Henan in 1928. In 1952, Henan Medical College was established independently, which opened a precedent for medical higher education in Henan. The original Zhengzhou University was founded in 1956 and was the first comprehensive university founded by the People’s Republic of China. In 1996, it was included in the national "211 Project" key construction universities; Zhengzhou University of Technology was established in 1963 and is a key university directly under the former Ministry of Chemical Industry. In July 2000, the former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology and Henan Medical University merged to form the new Zhengzhou University. As of March 2023, the school covers a total area of more than 6,100 acres; it has 55 departments and 118 undergraduate majors; there are more than 44,000 full-time ordinary undergraduates, more than 26,000 postgraduates, and students from 96 countries There are more than 2,700 international students; there are 31 doctoral degree authorization points in first-level disciplines, 4 professional doctoral degree authorization points, 59 master degree authorization points in first-level disciplines, 34 professional master degree authorization points, and 28 post-doctoral research stations.
