Nanjing University

The school started from the Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902, and then went through Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University, National Central University, etc., and was renamed Nanjing University in 1950. In 1952, after some departments were adjusted, it was merged with the School of Arts and Sciences of Jinling University founded in 1888, and it was still named Nanjing University. The school site was moved from Sipailou to the original site of Jinling University in Gulou. In 2006, the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province signed an agreement to jointly build Nanjing University. In 2011, the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province signed an agreement to continue to focus on jointly building Nanjing University. As of November 2022, the school has four campuses: Xianlin, Gulou, Pukou, and Suzhou; it has 33 departments and 91 undergraduate majors; it has 38 postdoctoral research stations and 44 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees , 1 doctoral degree authorized second-level discipline point (excluding the first-level discipline coverage points), 5 professional doctoral degree authorized points, 4 master's degree authorized first-level discipline points, and 28 professional master's degree authorized points; there are 13934 undergraduates 18,158 graduate students, 8,948 doctoral students, and 1,691 international students
