Yanshan University

Yanshan University is a national key university jointly established by the People's Government of Hebei Province, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, a national first-class university and a world-class discipline construction university supported by Hebei Province, and a member of the Beijing Hi-Tech University Alliance. The school originated from Harbin Institute of Technology and was founded in 1920. In 1958, Harbin Institute of Technology responded to the call of the state and moved heavy machinery and related majors to Fularji District, Qiqihar City, an important industrial town, and established Harbin Institute of Technology Fularji Branch, which was first named Harbin Institute of Technology Fularji Heavy Machinery College and then renamed Harbin Institute of Technology Heavy Machinery College. In 1960, it was independently run and named Northeast Heavy Machinery College, becoming a university directly under the former Ministry of Machinery Industry. In 1978, it was identified as a national key institution of higher learning. From 1985 to 1997, the school moved south to Qinhuangdao City. In 1997, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, it was renamed Yanshan University. In 1998, it was transferred from the former Ministry of Machinery Industry to Hebei Province, and the joint construction of the central and local governments was implemented, with Hebei Province as the main management. In 2000, Hebei Light Industry Management School was merged into Yanshan University.
